The St Louise Track & Field program is open to boys and girls from 3rd to 8th grades. The Novice program covers the 3rd and 4th graders, and they compete in the 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m and long jump. The JV program consists of 5th & 6th graders and they compete in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m, 4x100m, 4x400m, long jump, shot put & turbo javelin. The Varsity program consists of 7th and 8th graders, and they compete in the same events as the JV.
Practices are usually Tuesdays & Thursdays 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. STL typically has 2-3 home meets at Bethel Park High School, and a couple of away meets in April. The Diocesan Championship has traditionally been the first or second Saturday in May.
The Track Excellence Award is awarded annually to the Varsity athlete who demonstrates leadership among peers, compassion towards teammates, respect for the competition, and above all is a role model on the track, in practice, and within the St. Louise community.
Any parents or parishioners who would like to lend their talents to the STL School Track & Field program are invited to apply (coaching experience not necessary.) Please contact Joshua Eckenrode with any questions at [email protected].
